According to mythology, Parijat is the heavenly tree brought by Lord Krishna. Widely distributed in the sub-Himalaya region. It occurs in the equatorial region from sea level to 1500 m above sea level in a wide range of precipitation patterns. Easily propagated by plant seeds and twigs.

Parijat, commonly known as night jasmine, is a small shrub with fragrant flowers. Parijat flowers have 7-8 petals on orange-red stems.
